Silverstar is a Silverskin type garlic. The Silverskin group are softnecks and it's generally accepted that these have the best storage capabilities of all garlic types. In the right conditions Silverstar can be stored for more than 12 months. In fact, we still have garlic from last year that is still viable, and tasty.
This is a strong garlic with fine, spicy, complex flavours. With many slim cloves, there is less food waste when cooking your favourite breakfasts, making dressings and sauces, or while enjoying great main dish ingredients like the maitake or lion's mane mushrooms available here. One tip to best bring out Silverstar's rich flavour is to sauté it in your favourite oils or butters to a deep tan colour.
We find this garlic to be a productive one on our farm, and it is one of the last garlic to be harvested which enhances it's storage capabilities.
