Alexander the Great is purple stripe variety of hardneck with beautiful white papery skin that is "purple striped" in the centre band of its bulbs. From harvest it can be stored for about 6 months and it has 6-9 cloves per bulb.
This great garlic, is one of the sweetest varieties we know, and really stands out from other varieties in this aspect. Hiding behind this sweetness is a spiciness that helps create spectacular depth of flavour in vegetable dishes like steamed filet green beans, broccolini, and on buttered sweet potatoes.
